King Edward’s has a long history of supporting education for talented pupils who have clear financial need through the provision of bursaries in the Senior School. This tradition stretches back to the School’s foundation in 1552 and remains at the heart of our ethos today. As a result, we currently invest around £850,000 annually in bursaries and scholarships, offering financial assistance to approximately 17% of our pupils. This is more than double the national average in terms percentage of pupils supported.
The School offers a number of means-tested bursaries at entry to Years 7 and 12. Once awarded, unless parental circumstances change, bursaries can usually continue to the end of Year 13. All bursaries are subject to an annual review and may be varied up or down if parents’ financial circumstances alter.
Each year approximately ten Year 7 pupils are awarded Entrance Bursaries ranging from 10%-100% of school fees.
In addition to the Entrance Bursaries awarded at Year 7, further awards may be offered to pupils entering the Sixth Form in Year 12. These awards are open to new and existing pupils joining from our School and are similarly means-tested.
For all enquiries relating to bursaries, please contact the Bursar’s PA, Mrs Jane Howard, either by email: J.Howard@kesbath.com or telephone: 01225 820333. A bursary application form can also be obtained by ticking the appropriate box on our registration forms.
Please note that the deadline for bursary application forms is 1 December each year for Year 7 bursaries and 31 October each year for Year 12 bursaries.
