We are thrilled to announce our sixth Side-by-Side Project with Bath’s professional orchestra, Bath Philharmonia, and our Senior School orchestral musicians and soloists, which culminates in this year’s Bath Orchestral Gala Concert, set within the beautiful grandeur of the Guildhall’s Banqueting Room. We remain extremely proud to be the first and only school in Bath to have this wonderful educational partnership with the city’s resident professional orchestra.

Along with Jason Thornton, conductor of Bath Philharmonia, 20 members of the professional orchestra will play side-by-side with KES pupils in a highly accessible and thrilling programme themed around ‘A Night at The Movies’.

Join us as we perform famous musical moments from great films scores ranging from thrilling scenes from blockbuster hits such as Gladiator, Jurassic Park, James Bond and E.T., to more introspective and emotive passages from the likes of Gabriel’s Oboe and the animated sensation, Up! Three of our talented KES musicians will have the unique opportunity to perform as soloists accompanied by Bath Philharmonia in stirring music by Morricone, Mozart and Rimsky-Korsakov, and we are proud to announce that our resident composer, Mark Boden, has written another wonderful work to première at the Gala that encompasses the orchestral partnership, drawing together all the players in a unique and mesmerizing experience.
