The Role of the Board of Governors

The Board of Governors of King Edward’s has a very important role to play in ensuring that the School maintains its reputation as one of the country’s leading independent schools, providing a distinctive and stimulating learning environment for children from a variety of backgrounds, in which each individual is encouraged to strive for excellence and to acquire a lifelong passion for knowledge, discovery and adventure. 

In order to help achieve this, the Board of Governors will:

  • Provide a clear vision for the future of King Edward’s for pupils, parents and staff and to ensure the long-term success and viability of the school
  • Play a strategic role in determining the overall aims of King Edward’s School
  • Provide guidance and support for the Headmaster and the senior management team to ensure that the School provides the best possible education for both present and future pupils
  • Ensure effective control and management of the School’s finances
  • Ensure that the School complies with all appropriate regulation.
