Oxbridge & Medicine

We devote much time to supporting our Sixth Form pupils in their applications to university or other higher education institutions, such as art colleges.

In most years 80-90% of our pupils are successful in gaining entry to their first choice of institution, but the market is increasingly competitive and so for those applying to the most sought after courses at Oxford, Cambridge and other Russell group universities and for medical courses across the country we offer additional support. Each academic department will advise prospective applicants and offer interview guidance, and particular focus comes from the science departments for those applying for medicine, dentistry, pharmacy or veterinary science. Preparation for interviews comes in the form of a series of seminars discussing application and interview technique and likely topics, with the culmination being a mock interview and feedback with an external expert. Advice on work experience is also offered to those applying to be medics, some of whom will be able to find experience through the Community Service programme run in Sixth Form Games time.

The success of the sixth form in public examinations enables them to gain places, usually at their first choice of university.'
