Anti-bullying survey

Personal, Social and Health Education

Personal, social and health education (PSHE) gives children and young people the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy and independent lives. It aims to help them develop both personally and socially with the information they need to tackle many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up.

At King Edward's the subject is taught in a dynamic way with a rich mix of outside speakers, discussions and mini-conferences to stimulate understanding.

Pupil’s from Years 9 – 10 enjoyed a presentation by Chris Matthewman on the art of communication. Chris uses a combination of stand-up comedy and multimedia to help young people improve their relationships, communication, teamwork and people skills.

KES pupils develop Anti-bullying survey

The KES Get Savvy team has created an online Anti-bullying Survey.

The survey was researched and developed by a team of pupils; Shiv Mittal, Leah Rustomjee, Laura Spencer and Sophie Bryant. The survey has thirteen questions and is designed to understand the level of verbal, physical or cyber bullying experienced by pupils.

The survey is completely anonymous and is aimed at anyone who has been a victim of bullying, a bystander or has engaged in bullying themselves. The results will be published to tutor groups for discussion in tutor time and will be used to inform and improve the KES Anti-bullying strategy.

Get Savvy is a citizenship initiative run in cooperation with Child-Safe International. The KES team was set up in 2009 after consultation with the Avon and Somerset Constabulary to bring the community together and eliminate social divides. Our projects have included personal property marking at KES and also at Bath University. The KES team hope to create leaflets on bullying to distribute to our local community in doctors' surgeries and other public places.

If you are a KES pupil and would like more information about anti-bullying, you can speak to your tutor, Head of Year or any member of the Pastoral staff or e-mail antibullying@kesbath.com.
