Homework provides opportunities for reinforcement of work learned during school time and for children to develop their research skills.
The following homework is given to Year 1 on a weekly basis:
- Research related to the class project
Occasionally the children will be given the class bear to take home over the weekend. Your child will be asked to take photographs and write the everyday activities that you do on a postcard. ‘Show and Tell’ at this stage has developed into children preparing a talk on their chosen subject once a term.
In Year 2, homework helps the children to consolidate and reinforce skills and understanding, particularly in literacy and numeracy. We encourage the children to develop the confidence and self-discipline needed to study on their own and to prepare them for life-long learning.
The following homework is given on a weekly basis:
- Reading every evening
- Spellings once a week
- Mathematics once a week
- Occasional project research
- Occasionally your child will have a class bear over the weekend to write a diary of daily activities you do.
