B&NES Cross Country Championships

King Edward’s pupils did extremely well at the Bath and North East Somerset Cross Country Championships during November. Seventeen pupils achieved places in the Top 10 and went on to represent B&NES at the Avon Schools’ Cross Country Championships in January at Blaise Castle in Bristol.

In the Minors group (Year 7) the boys’ team consisting of 6 runners came first with Nic McKibbin (2nd), Jacob Fox (4th), Felix Pivcevic (5th), and Joe Jones (10th). The girls’ team finishing third, Elen Lindsay (8th) was the first KES pupil home. In the Junior group (Year 8 & 9) Year 9s were unavailable, which resulted in the Juniors group being represented by Year 8s only. This didn’t hinder them at all, the girls’ team coming second with an outstanding first place by Susie Barnes (Year 8). For the boys, George Chapman (4th) also gave a great performance against boys a year older.

In the Inter group (Year 10 & 11) the girls’ team came second and the boys’ team took third place. Alex Hill (Year 11) won the boys race by some 600 metres. In the Senior group (Year 12 & 13) Marcie Bower took first place for the girls and Mark Warren (Year 12) took second for the boys. Conor Stiles, Jake Oldaker, Alex Phillips, Mark Humpheys and James Plumstead all securing top ten finishes in their respective races.
