King Edward’s School was delighted to welcome England Netball and Team Bath player, Serena Guthrie to school on Tuesday for a day-long series of masterclasses with netball players from Year 5 through to 1st team squads. Focused skills sessions included looking at attacking the D and effective defence through the court.

During her visit Serena also spoke to pupils during Assembly and a Q&A session, describing her own recipe for success and her journey to achieving her ambitions.  It was a truly inspiring day for pupils and staff alike.

Commenting on the day, Louisa Gwilliam, Head of Netball at KES, said: “The Netball masterclass was an excellent day from start to finish. The assembly to the whole school was inspiring with a strong message of working hard, fulfilling your potential and making the most of every opportunity. So many pupils across both the Senior and Junior Schools were lucky enough to benefit from Serena’s world-class experience. It was definitely a day to remember for all involved.”

Serena plays in the centre and wing defence positions and her major honours include: a gold medal at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games; 2011 and 2015 World Netball Championships bronze medals; Superleague champion with Team Bath 2007, 2009, 2010, 201; and Suncorp Super Netball runner-up and MVP with Giants Netball 2017.
