Once again our pupils have had a very busy sporting term. Girls’ hockey has seen upwards of 15 teams across all age groups representing the School.  125 matches have taken place, with the teams scoring 267 goals in the process.  Of course, player development remains at the core of what we do, and the teams have made real progress this season. Team of the season is probably our U14A team who were unbeaten throughout the term in normal fixtures and were just pipped at the post in the semi-final stage of the County Cup.  Special mention too, for the U13 players, who have improved beyond measure. The seniors enjoyed a good season, with victories over RHS and Monkton to name but two. With an eye on the Spring Term, the U18 and U16 boys’ indoor teams enjoyed taking part in the regional finals of the indoor Schools Championships. Pre-season training starts on 4 January, with a full programme of fixtures beginning on the first Saturday back against Colston’s, and with a National Schools U18 cup match against King’s Bruton on Thursday 11 January.

It has been another excellent rugby season for all the boys involved. The school have fielded up to 14 teams from U12 to 1st XV, which is testament to all the hard work that has gone into the programme.  With a clear rugby ethos and playing strategy that is replicated from the Junior School to the senior 1st XV, the boys have been working hard on a number of key themes during the Autumn campaign. The standout match of the year was an excellent 30-22 point victory against Beechen Cliff under the floodlights at the University, on a cold November evening in front of 200 spectators! On an individual level, we can be extremely proud of many of our rugby players who are representing the school from county to academy level. Special mentions go to Harry Crowther for his selection for the U16 Bath Rugby Player Development Group and Lawrence Wort, Max Ojomoh and Jack Bertinet, who will represent Bath Rugby in the U18 Academy League over the next few months, a superb achievement.  Players and coaches can now look forward to the Sevens season, where the U13s, U14s, U16s and Seniors will be taking part at the highly prestigious Rosslyn Park National Schools tournaments in March. The Seniors will also be travelling up to Sedbergh to compete in the National Tens competition.

With January fast approaching, the netball season is nearly here, and there is much excitement for the season ahead. Three netball squads have been in action this term, competing in the initial rounds of the National Schools Competition.  The U19 netballers are county champions for the 3rd year running and the 5th time in 7 years.  They are joined in the regional finals by the U16s, who were county runners-up and who became the 19th KES netball team in the last 10 years to reach this stage.  Congratulations, also go to Millie Pearce, Emily Jupp and Immy Stringer, who are all part of the Regional Academy, within the England Netball Pathway.

There have also been notable performances from our U16 boys’ and U13 girls’ tennis teams in the regional round of the National Cup, along with some excellent individual performances for our cross country team in the B&NES tournaments.
