Combined Cadet Force Contingent Commander

(From July 2019)

This exciting opportunity arises from the recent appointment of the current Contingent Commander to a new teaching post at a different school. The Contingent Commander takes overall responsibility for the oversight and in-house planning of the Annual CCF Cadet Training Programme, and for the utilisation and development of the skills of the KES CCF staff, working closely, and with the full support of, the SSI to ensure compliance.

The Contingent Commander leads and manages the Combined Cadet Force to enable pupils to develop leadership skills through military and other training, and to promote amongst participating cadets the qualities of responsibility, self-reliance, resourcefulness, endurance and perseverance.

The post requires energy, enthusiasm, patience and extremely good levels of organisation, together with excellent communication skills when liaising with pupils, parents, colleagues and outside agencies. The Contingent Commander will be sympathetic to the aims and ethos of the CCF and of the School. The successful candidate will be forward thinking and dynamic in leading and shaping proposals for a vision of the future development of KES CCF, and cognisant of the ideas of the other officers, the SSI and the cadets, and the School’s aspirations for the CCF. CCF is a key co-curricular activity within the School’s wide-ranging programme and also provides a valued outreach opportunity to cadets in other schools.

Applications should be received by 9 am on 28 June 2019.
