We are looking for suitably qualified and experienced graduates to teach Mathematics to all age groups in this thriving and popular department. The successful candidate/s will possess excellent subject knowledge and be effective teachers who use a variety of teaching methods and who are able to work well as part of a team. They should be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills, a willingness to innovate and the ability to foster positive and supportive relationships with both students and staff in the department. They will be able to teach across the whole range of age and ability, including A-level Maths. The department also teaches Further Maths.

Maths is a very popular subject choice at A Level and we usually see over 50% of our pupils choosing to continue with Maths into the Sixth Form. We currently have over 130 pupils in the Sixth Form studying Maths, 38 of whom currently study Maths and Further Maths.

Early Career Teachers or recent Maths graduates willing to train on the job are encouraged to apply. A willingness to be involved in the extra-curricular and pastoral life of this busy and vibrant School is expected.

King Edward’s School operates its own salary scale, which is enhanced above the National State Qualified Teachers’ Scale and the salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  The School is a member of Teachers’ Pension Scheme.

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified and experienced Physics teacher to join this thriving, popular, and high-achieving department. The successful candidate will possess excellent subject knowledge, be an effective teacher who uses a variety of teaching methods and be able to work as part of a team. They should be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills, a willingness to innovate as well as the ability to foster positive and supportive relationships with both students and staff in the department. They will be able to teach up to GCSE level.  There may also be the opportunity for some A-level teaching, for a suitably qualified candidate.

This post is part-time to cover a period of maternity leave that runs from September 2024 until August 2025, and is for approximately 0.6 of a full timetable.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced Chef with culinary knowledge and production skills to be part of the catering team responsible for the food service provision for pupils, as well as catering for functions and events across the school campus.  Passionate about food and culinary service, you will assist in ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and be responsible for elements of the main menu and service periods.  With the Catering Manager you will assist with menu development and recipe ideas whilst maintaining excellent standards and food quality. 

The school places a high priority on the provision of excellent catering to the pupils, staff and parents of the school and is constantly striving to improve the quality of the food on offer. Ultimately, we are seeking to make the school catering offer one of the leaders within the sector.   

The school’s Catering Department operates at the highest of standards to ensure that the pupils enjoy meals that are planned with great care, prepared with skill, presented with imagination and flair and of course taste delicious.  We look for high quality food, exceeding the expectation of a normal school meal, which is home-made using quality, fresh ingredients.   Previous experience of large cover catering would be beneficial but not essential. 

The role will be 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 10am to 6pm (Friday 5.30pm) with no less than 15 Saturdays worked as time off in lieu.  A formal induction program is planned to provide training and support during the initial first term. You will be based at our North Road site, and we offer a competitive salary which will be enhanced by the School’s generous staff benefit package including holiday pay and free parking.  Training and a uniform will be provided.

Please note there is a recruitment bonus of £1,000.  £500 to be paid 3 months after starting and £500 at the end of the 6 month probationary period.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and responsible Minibus Driver to join our welcoming Estates and Facilities team.  This is an exciting time to be joining King Edward’s School and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the School and its community.

This rewarding role will require a polite and friendly manner and the ability to work independently and provide a safe and reliable driving service to the pupils of King Edward’s School. The successful candidate will have a full clean UK driving licence, including D1 Minibus entitlement and will have excellent time management and outstanding personal skills particularly with an ability to relate well to young people, parents, colleagues and external agencies.  Experience of driving passenger vehicles is highly desirable along with First Aid and MIDAS training.

The role will be 10 or 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7am to 9am and/or 3.30pm to 5.30pm.  The successful applicant may be permitted to keep the vehicle at their property overnight if they live within a sensible distance to the bus route, they are servicing.  A formal induction program is planned to provide training and support during the initial first term. You will be based at our North Road site, and we offer a competitive salary which will be enhanced by the School’s generous staff benefit package including holiday pay, free food and parking.  Training and a uniform will be provided.
