Year 2 are just back from their residential trip to Magdalen Farm near Chard, Somerset.

On the first day of their trip, the children worked in small groups of 5 or 6 to complete an orienteering exercise. They needed mapping skills and good team work to complete the task and it turned into a very competitive challenge! After lunch, they unpacked, made their beds and settled into their new homes for the night. It was incredibly exciting, especially when the children heard that there would be a certificate for the tidiest and best-behaved room! Later in the afternoon, the children again worked in teams to build a shelter and after all of their hard work (and mud sliding!) enjoyed a warming cup of hot chocolate around the camp fire.

It was an early start on the Friday as everyone had to pack up before enjoying a tasty and filling breakfast that included an option of scrambled eggs from the farm. They then set off in small groups to experience hands on farming activities that included feeding the goats and pigs as well as collecting the salad and eggs for lunch. It was an excellent environmental experience for the children and we hope they’ve enjoyed sharing stories about all their adventures during their stay.
