Year 3 explore the rainforests in cross-curricular topic

18 May 2018

It's been a fact-finding, yet creative term for Year 3, who are finding out all about Rainforests as part of their cross-curricular Humanities project across Art, English and Geography.

In Art they have created these stunning drawings of Rainforest animals using oil pastels, whilst in Geography they have put together factfiles on their favourites animals.  For instance, did you know that Scarlet Macaws (or Ara Macao) can live for up to 50 years, or that Sloths can turn their heads 270 degrees thanks to extra neck vertebrae? Year 3 do!

In English, the year group have taken inspiration from the Rainforests to create their own poetry about the Rainforest inhabitants, and just this week are using their most persuasive writing skills to write (and send) letters to the Brazilian government, to urge them to do more to protect the Rainforest habitats.

Do pop into school if you would like to see some of their work on display.
