Welcome for Old Edwardians

Staying in touch
One of the best ways of maintaining links with King Edward's School and other Old Edwardians when you leave KES is to join the Association of Old Edwardians.  Membership is open to all former pupils and staff.

Membership of the Association entitles you to access OEs Online (a secure website for the exclusive use of Old Edwardians launching in the autumn), a copy of our lively annual magazine, the OE Link, a Tudor rose pin badge and invitations to a varied social programme of OE events.

To find out more, click on the link below for an application form and further details.

The Development Office at KES maintains a contact database for all former pupils.  If you have not received your copy of the OE Link, please do contact the office to ensure we have your current address.

The Latest OE News

Sam Williams Atlantic Row
Sam Williams (1994-2002) arrived safely at English Harbour, Antigua on 27th March after completing his solo Atlantic row which began when he left La Gomera in the Canary Islands on 12th January.

Both Sam and his boat, Pacific Pete, are in very good shape and Sam is glad to be back on dry land!  Although the straight line distance between his start and finish point is 2931 miles, the total distance Sam actually rowed, according to his GPS log, is 3750 miles.  His crossing time of 75 days, 4 hours and 43 minutes makes him the fastest solo rower on this route this 'season' (ie since December 1st 2007) as well as being the youngest.  Pacific Pete has also achieved a record, being the oldest ocean rowing boat, and one that that is believed to have made the greatest number of Atlantic crossings.

Since his arrival Sam has been busy with radio and television interviews as well as the inevitable celebrations and recovery time.  You can find details of radio, tv and newspaper coverage on www.atlanticrow2007.com

Old Edwardians will be able to read more about Sam's incredible achievement in the forthcoming issue of the OE Link Magazine.

Meanwhile, Sam will be continuing his fundraising for FARM-Africa, a charity that supports African farmers to help them develop a sustainable livelihood.  If you would like to support this deserving cause, you can make a donation using the links on Sam's website.

Association of Old Edwardians' Executive Committee

History, Aims and Committee Structure
The Association of Old Edwardians' main focus is to help former pupils from King Edward's School to stay in touch with one another and with the school.  The Association was founded in 1906 by Dr W B Odgers, the first President.

The Aims of the Association are:
To provide opportunities for Old Edwardians to communicate and meet
To support the work of King Edward's School
To provide careers advice and guidance to pupils

The Association of Old Edwardians is formally managed by the Executive Committee which consists of members who have been elected by those present at the Annual General Meeting which is held each year in the Autumn Term.  The Executive Committee meets each term at School and is also served by two sub committees, one which arranges the social events, including the Formal Dinners and a Finance committee which controls the financial affairs; these sub committees meet regularly as required.

Old Edwardian Events

The Association of Old Edwardians has a well established programme of Formal Dinners which provide an excellent opportunity for former pupils and current/former staff to get together.  The programme consists of a Bath Dinner traditionally held in November, either at school or in Bath, a London Dinner held centrally in January and the Oxbridge Dinner, which alternates between Oxford and Cambridge colleges each year during the Spring.

Dates for the 2008/9 Dinners will be listed here as soon as the venues are confirmed.  The Dinners are well attended and are frequently booked up ahead of time, so do book your tickets early!

The Development Office at KES is very happy to assist Old Edwardians who would like to organise reunions for their year group so do ring in with your ideas and enquries.

Forthcoming Events

Forties Brigade Reunion - Saturday 14th June 2008
