If you chanced upon one of the Junior School display cabinets recently, you’d be forgiven for thinking you had walked on to the set of a David Attenborough documentary. Our budding young mathematicians in Year 4 had been busy making ‘Factor Bugs’.

The pupils created three types of Factor Bugs; prime, composite and square, each intricately decorated with factors, which could be found on the bug’s back, antennae, legs and tail. The lesson was designed to help the children understand the mathematics of factors, multiples, square and prime numbers in a fun, interactive way.
