King Edward's Pre-Prep is situated to the west of Bath, close to rolling green fields and housed in a beautiful Victorian building.
On entering the school you will immediately be welcomed by the sense of warmth and care that is central to our school's philosophy. You will be met by happy and confident children who will enjoy sharing their experiences of their school with you.
As a staff, we nurture within every individual child, a joy for learning and independence that allows each one of them to reach their potential in all aspects of our broad, creative curriculum. We provide the children with opportunities to learn through first hand experiences, investigations and imaginative play.
As class sizes are small, each child's needs are rapidly identified and addressed. The children enjoy specialist music teaching, learn to swim and are offered a wide variety of after school activities including sports, languages and the arts to mention just a few.
We are very fortunate to enjoy the benefits of a carefully designed school grounds that incorporates facilities to meet the needs of the children's physical and social development along with opportunities for creative play and exploring the natural world with our gardens, pond area and potting shed.

Excellent Facilities
The Pre-Prep is housed in a beautiful Victorian house close to Royal Victoria Park and the Botanical Gardens on Weston Lane, Bath.
The School comprises a well-equipped gymnasium and school hall with stage. There is a separate dining hall and kitchen where the Pre-Prep's own chef cooks meals from fresh ingredients, largely locally sourced produce, every day. Meal times are a very social occasion when children sit together with their teachers and are encouraged to develop good table manners. There is a choice of main courses, a vegetarian option and a well stocked salad bar alternative plus dessert, fruit or yoghurt. The lunches are so delicious it is not hard to encourage children to eat heartily.
The Pre-Prep has a specialist music room, ICT suite, art room and library. The nursery has separate rooms and access to its own playground and garden allowing the smallest children to play together in a perfect early years environment. Nursery children benefit from joining reception and Years 1 and 2 for many activities including assemblies, lunch and termly drama productions.
The Pre-Prep is very lucky to be surrounded by spacious and safe grounds to the rear of the main house which gives the children the freedom to play and explore in a secure environment. The children have the opportunity to play traditional games on the surfaced playground, role play in the fort, explore the wooded area or enjoy the climbing frame.
There is a wilderness area and pond in the garden which is used by the children to investigate minibeasts and for other environmental projects, a magical sensory garden, a playing field for team games and an area where the children are cultivating their own gardens. Children love having the opportunity of being outside and many lessons utilise the grounds as an outdoor classroom.
The children swim at Bath University's 25m Swimming Pool and have access to the excellent facilities of King Edward's Bathampton playing fields for sports activities. The newly installed science laboratories at King Edward's Junior School are used by the Pre-Prep children who take part in science workshops with the Junior School's specialist science teacher.

Parent Representative Commitee
The Pre-Prep has its own Parent Representative Committee. Parents from each year group meet with the Head twice a term, providing an opportunity for parents to channel thoughts and ideas through to the Head and for the Head teacher to gain valuable feedback on new proposals and initiatives. The Parent Representatives also help with small scale fundraising activities and the organisation of Pre-Prep events.
