Ellie Cumpsty first in the Laser 4.7 class at the 2012 RYA Eric Twinham Championships

King Edward's School pupil, Ellie Cumpsty sailing success at the 2012 RYA Eric Twiname Championships
Ellie Cumpsty finished 1st in the Laser 4.7 Class in the 2012 RYA Eric Twinham Championships which took place on Sat 12th and Sunday 13th May at Rutland Water.

This is the first part in the selection process for the 2012 Laser 4.7 National Junior Squad and great preparation for the summer regattas and the participants future sailing careers.

Ellie is currently a member of the RYA Volvo Laser Radial National Youth Squad.  

Head of Sport, Mrs Louisa Gwilliam, commented: “Congratulations to Ellie Cumpsty for further success with her sailing last weekend. Ellie is fully commited to sailing, works incredibly hard and thoroughly deserves her success. We wish her well in future events.”

King Edward’s U13 Boys’ Cricket Team through to the national round of the Bunbury Cup

King Edward's School U13 Cricket Team
The U13 Boys Cricket Team played Sir Thomas Rich, Gloucester Champions, in the first of the national rounds of the Bunbury Cup this week and won by 10 runs.

 

The team are now in the top 16 teams nationally and go through to the next round to play Twyford Prep School on Tuesday 22nd May.

Head of Boys’ Games Mr Marc Hawker, commented: “Congratulations to all boys for a tremendous achievement and good luck next week against Twyford Prep School.”

King Edward’s School Golfers heading for National Finals of the Independent Matchplay Competition

King Edward's School pupils through to the National Final of the Independent Schools Matchplay Competition
King Edward’s School golfers beat Canford School at the South West Final to gain a place in the National Finals of the Independent Schools Matchplay Competition.

 

The team beat Canford School 2 matches to 1

 

James Li and Benji John won 3 and 1
Ben Maddox and Sam Plumb won 3 and 2
Paul Eaton and Anthony Dalrymple lost 5 and 4

 

The National Finals are due to take place on Monday and Tuesday 2nd and 3rd July at Burnham and Berrow Golf Club in Somerset.

 

Congratulations to the whole team; Paul Eaton, Anthony Dalrymple, Benji John, Ben Maddox, Jamie Li and Sam Plumb and good luck at the National Finals.

Congratulations to Jamie Li, Year 10, winner of the U16 Avon School’s Golf Championship with a score of 71, a superb result. Well done in addition to Paul Eaton, Sam Plumb and Benji John who also took part.

Alex Hill, Year 13, came 3rd in the U20 McCain Cross Challenge. This is a national series held all over the country from November to March.

Louisa Gwilliam, Director of Sport at King Edward’s School, commented: “This is a superb achievement at just eighteen years old, we are incredibly proud of Alex and wish him every success in future events.”
