We are proud that there has been a long history of philanthropy at King Edward’s School. In 1552, King Edward VI granted a charter to establish a new grammar school and provide an excellent education to local children (at the time, boys only), as well as those from less affluent families from within the city. This founding principle has given us a strong sense of social responsibility and continues to guide us to this day.
Charitable donations enable us to provide a first-class education to young people, regardless of their financial circumstances, as well as creating an exceptional learning and pastoral environment at our School.
To mark our 475th Anniversary in 2027, we have ambitious plans to increase the number of means-tested bursaries that we offer at King Edward’s School.
The School’s long-term vision is that our Bursary Programme will ultimately be able to provide the necessary financial support so that any pupil offered a place at the Senior School can attend the School, regardless of their family’s financial circumstances.
All donations, of any size, will make a meaningful difference.
We recognise the financial demands that individuals and families face, which is why we welcome donations at any level – whatever suits you. It is the number of people who donate and take part that is important, demonstrating how many people in our community are supporting the future of a KES education.
The easiest way to donate is online. You can also donate by cheque, or bank transfer – details are on the donation form. Please make cheques payable to King Edward’s School, Bath. If you need assistance, please contact the Development & Alumni Relations Office via email at [email protected]
Gift Aid – Increasing the impact of your gift
If you are a UK taxpayer and complete a Gift Aid declaration, we can reclaim an additional 25p in every £1, making your gift worth even more at no extra cost to you. Higher rate taxpayers can also claim additional relief on their charitable donations.
