WELCOME TO NURSERY

Our Nursery offers an exciting and stimulating world in which to start school life and is the first step in a child's learning journey at King Edward's. A caring and nurturing approach ensures that every pupil thrives and develops a real joy of learning.

OUR NURSERY SETTING

With its own dedicated space, set within King Edward's Pre-Prep & Junior School, our Nursery offers an inviting indoor and outdoor environment that encourages exploration, creativity and independence.

OUR NURSERY TEAM

The Nursery is run by an experienced Early Years teacher, Mrs Alex Moores, (EYFS Teacher with a BA Hons in Education and PGCE qualified), supported by teaching assistants, who all have an excellent understanding of how young children develop. Our staff develop strong relationships with the children and are attuned to their interests and development. The low child to adult ratio ensures that we can support and extend each child’s all-round development.

We work in close partnership with parents to ensure that the child feels happy and safe as they settle in and become familiar with the day-to-day routines of Nursery. Our Interactive Learning Diary provides weekly photographs and observations of the children’s experiences in our setting. We encourage parents to contribute and share with us some of the lovely activities that their children enjoy doing at home.

In addition to the Nursery team, specialist teachers in Music and Forest School enhance the children’s learning.

Frequently Asked Questions

JOINING THE NURSERY
Children can join the Nursery for their pre-school year in the September after they turn three years old. Prior to starting at the Nursery, children join us in small groups during ‘stay and play’ sessions. Experienced staff support the children as they play, share stories, use the construction equipment and even hold tea parties! If you are interested in sending your child to our Nursery or would like to arrange a visit to see for yourself what makes our Nursery so special, please contact our Admissions team on 01225 820399 or email: admissions@kesbath.com. Please note that the Nursery provision at KES is term-time only.
THE NURSERY DAY
We offer three different sessions and recommend a minimum of four sessions per week. Sessions include: Morning: 8.30-am – 11.45pm Morning (including lunch): 8.30-am – 12.45pm All day (including lunch): 8.30am - 3.15pm Afternoon: 12.45pm – 3.15pm Afternoon (including lunch): 11.45pm – 3.15pm Healthy snacks are provided during each session, and a nutritional lunch is freshly prepared at school each day by our fantastic catering team, using seasonal and local ingredients.
PRE- AND AFTER-SCHOOL CARE
At the Pre-Prep site, we offer both pre- and after-school care. This takes place in Teddy’s Lodge, located at the front of the School. From September 2026, pre- and after-school care will be located at the Junior School site only. This is a pre-bookable service, which must be booked in advance on the School’s Gateway App. Each session is supervised by experienced professionals. There is a charge for this service. EARLY BIRDS 8:00am – 8:30am Doors open at 8:00am All children are escorted to the playground for the start of the school day, and Nursery children are taken to their classroom Early Bird charges are £2.00 per session AFTER-SCHOOL CARE 3:15pm – 5:45pm Children attending an after-school activity will be escorted to Teddy's Lodge. Session 1: 3.30pm* - 4.30pm and/or Session 2: 4.30pm - 5.45pm Charges are set at the following rate: £4.00 per session. *The first 15 minutes of After School Care is free for all pupils.
