aRT EXHIBITION AT KES WELCOMES LOCAL ARTIST, JOSHUA DONKOR
We were delighted to welcome local artist Joshua Donkor to KES this week as our guest speaker for the annual Art & Photography Talk and Exhibition.
Many in the audience were already familiar with Joshua’s recent exhibition at the Holburne Museum and were delighted to hear first-hand about his creative process, life as an artist, and his journey to becoming a full-time professional. Along the way, Joshua spoke about studying in the UK and in Venice, as well as his visits to Ghana to explore his family's heritage and experiences.
Generously giving of his time, Joshua described how his artwork serves as “a homage to all the people, places and histories that have, and continue to, influence my life and the lives of my family members through multiple generations.”
A celebration of diverse cultures, Joshua sees his work as a platform for open conversations and the sharing of perspectives, as well as a means of challenging and breaking down social barriers and stereotypes.
Following the talk, Joshua joined students and guests in exploring an exhibition of artwork produced by KES artists.
