King Edward’s Junior School boasts a rich and stimulating curriculum, where academic excellence and high expectations are balanced with a wealth of exciting co-curricular opportunities, which is all underpinned by a very supportive and robust pastoral system. Our children (aged 7-11 years), have an appetite for learning and enjoy challenge. We ask that they set their sights high and encourage them to be the best they can be, while pursuing progress in all aspects of their development and engaging with all that the School has to offer across our holistic curriculum.
Each day offers a new opportunity, a different challenge, and learning at the School is an adventurous journey of discovery, both in and out of the classroom. We believe our children make super progress at school because they are happy and well-supported. Dedicated and inspiring teachers engage and enthuse their classes, while our outstanding pastoral care provides individual support for each child, enabling them to flourish and grow. We firmly believe that happy children make the best progress!
Intellectual rigour is underpinned by excellent pastoral care - these kids really seem to thrive.
Good Schools Guide
As they advance through the Junior School, our children grow in confidence and self-esteem, maximising their potential as they take pride in their progress and achievements, and make the most of school life. Equally important is their respect and empathy for others, and their sense of responsibility for themselves and for others in the school community.
Sean Price, our incoming new head teacher (January 2024)
We are delighted to announce that Sean Price has been appointed the new Head Teacher of the Junior School at King Edward’s School. Mr Price joins King Edward’s in the Spring Term (January 2024) from Westonbirt Prep School where he has been Headmaster for the last seven years.
Mr Price is a hugely passionate educationalist and continues to be an enthusiastic hands-on teacher. After gaining a degree from Cardiff University in English Language Studies, he worked in the sales industry before completing his PGCE at the University of Bath.
Mr Price also holds various roles within IAPS, the Independent Association of Prep Schools, of which the Junior School is a member, including serving as the National Sports Committee Chair and Director.
In anticipation of his arrival at King Edward’s, Mr Price said: “I am delighted to be joining King Edward’s School. It is a school with a fantastic reputation, both nationally and locally, with an impressive heritage and record of providing an innovative and first-class education for its pupils.
Mr Horrocks-Taylor, Second Master and Acting Head at the Junior School, adds: “Mr Price’s personal ethos that children should be exposed to as many opportunities as possible to ignite their passions, fuel their self-belief and to develop them as learners, both within their comfort zones and when challenged to try something new, chimes very naturally with the approach at our Junior School.
