Teacher of Chemistry
Permanent, Full or Part time
from September 2026
Closing Date: 12 February 2026
Applications are invited from energetic and well-qualified university graduates or teachers seeking to be part of a dynamic and well-resourced Science faculty which teaches Biology, Chemistry and Physics from Year 7 up to A-level.
This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified science teacher to join the school. This post is flexible to suit the abilities of the successful applicant, but part time would need to be at least 0.6 FTE. As a popular subject at A-level, Chemistry continues to be a source of pride of King Edward’s School and a subject which sees pupils flourish at all levels.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The successful candidate will be able to teach across the whole range of age and ability, including A-level Chemistry.
The Chemistry department has an outstanding record of exam success. In 2025, there were 35 pupils entered at A level for Chemistry with over 60% of these achieving the A*/A. At GCSE, around 50% were graded at grades 9-8. Science is a very popular choice at A-level, with three or four groups in Years 12 and 13 for Chemistry.
The post would suit either an experienced teacher with a proven record of successful results, or an ECT, for whom a full support and induction programme will be available. We are an inclusive school and welcome applications from people of all beliefs and backgrounds.
With highly motivated and academically ambitious pupils, this role is a chance to champion chemistry, support academic excellence, and cultivate independent learning in a resource-rich environment. If you have a flair for innovation and a desire to make a real impact on young lives, we hope that you will consider making an application.
A willingness to make a meaningful contribution to the pastoral, extra-curricular and wider co-curricular life of this busy and vibrant School is expected, including accompanying trips.
King Edward’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and applicants must be willing to undergo safeguarding screening, which includes successful clearance of an enhanced DBS check, receipt of satisfactory references and a pre-employment health questionnaire. We are an inclusive school and welcome applications from people of all beliefs and backgrounds.
Applications should be made in writing, using the supplied application form and with a letter outlining the applicant’s suitability for the post, including their relevant experience. These should be received by 9am on Thursday, 12 February 2026; however, early application is encouraged as we may look to invite strong candidates for earlier interview. Completed applications and supporting documents need to be sent to our HR Department via their email address Recruitment@kesbath.com. Interviews are likely to be held on 26/27 February 2026.
