On Wednesday the U16 Girls' rugby team played at the Millfield 7s in preparation for the renowned Rosslyn Park National  Park Schools Sevens tournament. The team had group matches versus Millfield, The Kings of Wessex Academy and Clifton College before a bowl final versus Wellington School, which they won. Losing only to the eventual cup winners, Millfield in their first-ever game together, the girls improved with each game and showed true grit against some of the best schools in the South West.

Mr Broomfield, their coach, said: “It’s been 24 years since the last KES Girls’ rugby team have competed and we are immensely proud of this group who’ve been training before school for the past year in the rain, snow and shine.”

Growing in popularity at school the U16 team has two players in the Dorset & Wilts England Rugby Development Player Pathway - Ulrika Avent and Clemmie Westwater.
