At King Edward’s School, we believe in transforming lives through education.
Since 1552, our purpose has remained clear: to give every pupil the chance to realise their full potential. Today, we aim to do that regardless of financial circumstances.
The 1552 Foundation, launched in 2025, is central to this vision. It embodies the School’s values of always looking out for and supporting others, which continues to guide us to this day.
Unlike many independent schools, King Edward's does not have a historic endowment, so we look to the generosity of our community to further our charitable objectives.
As we approach the School’s 475th anniversary in 2027 and beyond, our ambitions are bold. We aim to increase the number of life-changing bursaries we can provide, expand the opportunities we offer our pupils and enhance our educational environment.
Charitable donations help us to provide a first-class education to young people, regardless of their financial circumstances, as well as creating an exceptional learning and pastoral environment at our School.
BURSARIES: TRANSFORMING LIVES THROUGH EDUCATION
King Edward’s supports around 100 pupils with £1.3 million in bursaries each year. To ensure no child is turned away, the School aims to raise an additional £500,000 annually by 2030. Your generosity can make this possible.
BURSARY PLUS: CREATING OPPORTUNITIES WITHOUT BARRIERS
Bursary Plus removes financial barriers ensuring every pupil can take part in the full life of the School, including co-curricular opportunities. Support this initiative and help every child thrive.
EXPANDING OPPORTUNITIES
While bursaries and Bursary Plus remain our core priorities, the Expanding Opportunities Fund enables donors to enrich school life by supporting specific areas—enhancing experiences both in and beyond the classroom.
HOW TO SUPPORT US

BURSARIES: TRANSFORMING LIVES THROUGH EDUCATION
King Edward’s School is committed to widening access through education, currently supporting over 130 pupils with £1.3 million in bursaries annually. To ensure no child is turned away due to financial need, the School aims to raise an additional £500,000 each year by 2030 through the Wroughton Bursary Fund.
BURSARY PLUS: CREATING OPPORTUNITIES WITHOUT BARRIERS
BursaryPlus ensures bursary pupils can fully participate in school life—from music and sports to drama and societies—by removing financial barriers to co-curricular activities. Thanks to donor support, it helps every pupil thrive, not just attend, offering meaningful ways to contribute to passions like sport, music, or debating.
EXPANDING OPPORTUNITIES
While bursaries and BursaryPlus remain central, the School’s Expanding Opportunities fund allows donors to support specific areas of school life—such as sport, music, technology, or CCF—where their philanthropy can have immediate impact. This flexible fund helps meet emerging needs and enriches pupils’ experiences both in and beyond the classroom.
HOW TO SUPPORT US
Some of our most committed supporters are funding full bursaries for Sixth Form pupils through the Transforming Lives through Education campaign, empowering talented students whose places at KES are made possible by donor generosity. By becoming a Benefactor, you can fund up to 100% of a pupil’s Sixth Form journey and make a lasting impact.
